Angelonia
They also picked up the nickname Summer Snapdragon.
Personally, I think the little flowers resemble the bloom on an orchid. Either way the flower shape makes it perfect for bees to get in there and gather pollen.
They love full sun and really thrive in the heat.
If you plant these too early in the spring when it is still wet and cool, they will sit and pout until the weather heats up.
Although there are many varieties of this annual, ours will typically reach about 14-18” in height so they make a nice filler or thriller in your pot.
This plant is native to Central and South America so it really loves our hot summer weather.
If you haven’t tried growing Angelonia before, it’s definitely worth considering for a sunny location.
